Most feminist reading lists are intimidating.

You open one and find 40, 60, sometimes 100 books waiting for you.

Theory. History. Memoir. Feminist essays. Gender equality books. Books everyone says you must have read already.

And then life happens.

You read three chapters. You put the book down. You forget where you left it. You feel guilty. You decide you are not “feminist enough” to join the conversation.

Let’s take that pressure away.

Nobody finishes every feminist book on every list. Nobody understands everything on the first read. You do not need a perfect reading record to learn about intersectional feminism.

You need a path.

This is a month-by-month reading roadmap from September through April.

Eight chances to think more deeply, question more honestly, and stay connected to feminist ideas without turning reading into homework.

The order matters, but perfection does not. Read one book a month if that works for you. Read selected chapters if that is what your life allows. Listen to a masterclass. Bring one question to the discussion.

How this feminist reading roadmap works

The Reading Roadmap from The Feminist Academy is not about performing the “perfect” feminist bookshelf.

It is about having a path.

A real one.

A path that moves month by month through questions of masculinity, misogyny, refusal, independence, backlash, pleasure, ageing and women’s relationships with one another.

Some of these books will feel welcoming straight away.

Some may irritate you.

Some may leave you with more questions than answers.

Good.

That is part of the point.

The aim is not to create a reading test.

It is to help you notice how systems of power shape our relationships, workplaces, institutions, bodies and communities.

And to do that honestly.

Critically.

Together.

These are big questions. We can approach them one book at a time.
